Hudson Valley Wedding & Engagement Photographer
I love when couples have a clear vision for their engagement sessions. Amalia and Ryan imagined a chic yet timeless session. And Capitol Park in downtown Albany was the perfect spot. The historic ambiance of the State Capitol Building showcased their beautiful love story, and I enjoyed capturing every moment of it!
The Couple
Amalia and Ryan first met as freshmen at SUNY New Paltz. They experienced exams, lots of Bills games, and new fur babies while young and in love! Following graduation, the couple spent the next 2 years in long-distance. But by the summer of 2021, they put the Facetime dates to an end and moved to Albany together. And 1 year later, Amalia said yes to a forever with Ryan!
I’m honored these two trust me with their once-in-a-lifetime day at the Mohawk River Country Club & Chateau this August!
New York Engagement Photo Location
There’s a nostalgic spirit to the streets of New York. The same feeling of glamour still exists today as it did centuries before. And architectural masterpieces like the NY State Capitol showcase this. With high-arched ceilings and intricate light fixtures, the historic landmark flaunts sentimental luxury.
We planned their session for a day January, a slow month for engagement sessions. But you don’t need warm weather or clear skies to capture beautiful photos. Finding a location that speaks to your style and vision is how the magic happens.
Styling the Engagement Session
Amalia and Ryan had such a beautiful vision for their photos. Knowing my couples trust me to provide it for them gives my work meaning beyond the art of it.
Their soft color palettes helped to highlight the drama of the architecture. Amalia matched the grandeur in her sleek, satin dress. And she was glowing under the chandeliers. I loved her simple choice of accents (that pearl headband is to die for!). Ryan complimented the stylish look with a navy suit.
Telling Their Love Story
Inside the Capitol, Ryan led Amalia up the historic staircases. The chandelier lights and shadows elevated the dramatic setting. Next, they showed off their personalities while dancing around the marble floors. I also got some intimate shots of them overlooking the courtyard. The lines, textures, angles, and lighting were fun challenges.
On the third floor, we explored the Senate lobby. The green velvet sofas were the perfect pop of color. And I never pass up a sultry elevator moment. (Amalia and Ryan nailed it, of course!)
For their second look, Amalia wore a neutral blazer, and Ryan looked sharp in black. We finally stepped outside where it felt a bit more relaxed. I love the genuine smile on Amalia’s face as her future husband leads her downtown.
Amalia and Ryan spent the day relishing in their love for one another. When a couple loves each other as much as these two do, it makes my job easy! They were comfortable, clearly in love, and it came through in every photo!
To Amalia & Ryan—Thank you for trusting me to put your vision to life! Enjoy this season of engagement bliss. I am so excited for you both to start this next chapter of life together, and I can’t wait to capture your big day!
As a Lake George, Saratoga Springs, and Upper Hudson Valley wedding photographer, I document your day as a story, capturing all the little details that deserve to be remembered.
